Sadness

As I write this, I am watching yet another news report on Hurricane Katrina, and I continue to have flashbacks to last December. I was in Thailand, on the island of Phuket for the Tsunami. I was, about 100 ft up a cliff, watching the whole thing happen. Watching the waves hit Patong Beach, and knowing how many people were there, how many just didn't know what was coming. I was lucky, unlike so many who were there, so many who hadn't felt the earthquake, who didn't know the signs, who didn't have a cell phone, so family could call them and warn them. I was lucky. Lucky in so many ways. My heart goes out to those in the south who have been affected, and they will be in my thoughts.
